Deep Osprey Reef

Dotted over the Queensland Plateau are seamounts with emergent coral reefs that have kept pace with platform subsidence and continued growing up to present day sea-levels. Osprey Reef is one such reef and the steep walls drop more than 2 km into the surrounding Queensland Trough and plateau.

The Deep Osprey Reef mapping project objective is to map the deep seabed of the remote Osprey Reef. These images show some results from the project and the underwater marine life of this spectacular coral atoll.
