Abstract
The “Crowdsourced bathymetry on the Great Barrier Reef” project has been running for about two years and currently has nine volunteer vessels throughout the Great Barrier Reef installed with SmartLog data loggers. These loggers record the vessels’ own echosounder bathymetry (depth) data and GPS data about every two seconds.
This update for the IHO Crowdsourced Bathymetry Working Group 10th Meeting focusses on: (1) the types of chart plotters used; (2) line km mapped through 2020-21; (3) python script processing converting raw NMEA files into csv tables of lat, long, date, time, course, speed, depth; (4) some common errors encountered; and (5) future work.
